Carnegie Mellon University

Give to CMU

Dear Friends,

Founded in 1972, the Andrew Carnegie Society (ACS) is a group of more than 3,100 dedicated alumni, parents and staff who contribute $1,000 or more annually to support Carnegie Mellon University. Our mission is to recognize annual leadership giving to the university while growing and sustaining annual gifts through education and engagement.

As ACS members, we make an incredible impact through our philanthropy and volunteerism. I invite you to join us by making your gift today and to learn more about the Andrew Carnegie Society, including:

  • The ACS Legacy Scholarship program, which offers donors a chance to develop a personal relationship with a student and assist them with their financial need.
  • Volunteer opportunities, including ACS Leaders, a new program for ACS members.
  • ACS member benefits, such as exclusive activities on campus and around the country, access to faculty and students, VIP seating at special lectures and performances, facility tours, and more.

If you are already an ACS member, thank you for your support. We look forward to your continued membership for many years to come.

With best wishes,

Kristen S. Kurland
President, ACS

Thank you ACS, for your participation in #givingCMUday

Andrew Carnegie Society members stepped up to support Carnegie Mellon University’s first-ever #givingCMUday on December 1, 2015.

This event was CMU’s way of engaging donors on #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving, largely fueled by social media. Observed on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

To give the event a special Tartan spin, CMU turned #GivingTuesday into #givingCMUday and engaged the entire CMU community around giving back to the university. Real-time social media updates throughout the day, as well as on-campus events, ensured that anyone who wanted to be a part of this historic day was able to, whether they were a student attending an event at the Cohon University Center or an alumna in Dubai making her gift at 12:01am EST.

The results speak for themselves: over 24 hours, 1,209 donors made gifts totaling $180,487.01, breaking the university’s record for the most donations received in one day.

We could not have reached this historic achievement without the support of ACS members, and we are very grateful . Whether you donated unrestricted funds to be put towards our social media challenges, made an online gift, or used our #givingCMUday hashtag in a tweet, we appreciate everything you do for the university.
